From Escondido, CA

I'm not trying to rub it in, but...I've been spending the week riding through the flower fields, fig, citrus and avocado groves, and the oaks and manzanita of north county San Diego. Here, 2500 feet of climbing in 20-30 miles is mandatory, but at 75 degrees it doesn't matter that much. You can do it all in zone 2. Yes, it has been hot, but only in the 80s for a couple of hours. Marine layer in the morning has kept it nice and cool. I've only been flipped off once so I figure it's a good week in Southern California. Next summer I can open it up for a few days for a team training camp if we have enough interest.

  1. I was there from 7/3 to 7/9. I rode in the Scripps Ranch Old Pros 50 mile ride and then cruised alot from San Marcos, down through San Elijos, Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Encinitas throughout the week. I was the only person who didn't have arm warmers and other cold weather gear on. I agree, it was awesome weather with alot of climbing. Fun stuff though.

I would highly recommend the Old Pros ride...well organized, 3000 feet of climbing, 1 mile on I-15, and free beer afterwards!
